At The Chroma Club, we firmly believe that every home, regardless of size, can carve out a special place for art. If you’ve already designated a space for your little artists but find it collecting more dust than doodles, or if you’re working with limited space, worry not!
We’ve got some friendly tips to turn that space into a thriving hub of creativity.

1. Start Simple with Art Supplies Storage

The key to a successful art space is starting with the basics. Introduce your kids to a handful of easily manageable supplies, such as;
  • Washable markers
  • Colored pencils
  • Paper, scissors
  • Stickers
  • Tape
Remember, you don't need to fill up the entire space right away. Start small, let your kids get comfortable, and gradually expand as their skills grow. And hey, we get it – messes happen, but let's ease into it with mess-free supplies to maintain sanity!

2. Develop a System to Organise Art Supplies

Organisation is the name of the game. Whether it's an art caddy or a full-blown art room, keeping things tidy is crucial. Store supplies in clear glass jars, paper trays, or bins to make them easily accessible. Labels are your best friends, especially for pre-readers. The more visible and organized the supplies, the more likely they are to be used.

3. Keep it Fresh

To keep your art space from feeling stale, consider rotating supplies or themes based on seasons, holidays, or your child's current interests. Simple art invitations can also reignite your child's interest in the space. Remember, a change is as good as a holiday, and keeping things fresh ensures the art space remains a vibrant hub of creativity.

What to Do with Kids Artwork

Once your art space is buzzing with activity, you'll inevitably face the question of what to do with all those masterpieces. I have some tips to help keep everything organised and as stress free as possible

Drying Space:

If your art involves wet materials, consider using a shoe rack, cooling rack, or even a tray on the ground for drying. Just make sure your little ones understand the rules to avoid unexpected gluey surprises!

Holding Zone:

Designate a space for finished artwork that won't be immediately displayed. A paper organizing tray or a cardboard box works wonders. When it's full, sort through its contents with your little artist.

Kids Art Display Ideas:

Encourage your kids to display their creations proudly. Whether it's on the fridge, a bulletin board, or a kid-accessible art gallery with twine and clothespins, make it easy for them to showcase their work and change it up often.

The Leftovers:

An active art space generates scraps and bits. Teach your kids the art of reuse – create collages with paper scraps, yarn pieces, and unwanted artwork. Have a bin for reusable materials, recycle what you can, and dispose of the rest in a nearby trash can.

There you have it – a recipe for a thriving, organised, and ever-inspiring art space for your little Picassos. Embrace the mess, nurture the creativity, and let the journey of self expression begin!
