We recently tried our hand at crafting some gorgeous collage Easter eggs using a rather unexpected material – paper napkins! Yep, you read that right.
This genius idea came straight from the crafting queen herself, Martha Stewart. Who knew paper napkins could add such a delightful touch to Easter eggs?
MATERIALS
- Eggs, either hard-boiled or hollow
- Easter Egg Dye
- Paper napkins with printed pictures and designs
- Scissors
- Glue
- Paint brush
INSTRUCTIONS
Time To Get Dyeing
Let Them Dry
You can pop them back into the egg carton to help keep them stable and out of the way whilst they dry.
Cut The Patterns From The Paper Napkins
Whether you chose napkins with Butterflies, Flowers or random shapes, now’s the time to get cutting!
Stick The Cut Out Napkin Pieces To The Eggs
Water-down some Elmers Glue and use a paint brush to paste the napkin cut-outs on to your eggs. Wait for the glue to dry and then you can sit and admire your beautifully decorated eggs!
If you are using a Dye Kit simply follow the packs instructions but if you fancy making your own you can use Liquid Watercolours or Food Colouring (use as much as you want) with 3/4 Cup of Hot Water and 1 Tablespoon of White Vinegar. Watch how the melted crayon designs interact with the colours you have chosen.
