Dying Easter Eggs with Kool-Aid can make them look super fancy and subtle at the same time!
Best thing is, it’s super quick and easy to do so why not give it a try and see what wonderful colours you can create this Easter…
MATERIALS
- White Eggs, hardboiled (keep the carton they came in as well)
- Bowls or Cups
- Packages of Kool-Aid powder (experiment with different colours)
- Hot Water
- Distilled White Vinegar
- Vegetable Oil
INSTRUCTIONS
Prep Your Dye
First things first, tear open those Kool-Aid packets and sprinkle the powder into your bowls or cups – whichever you’re using to dye your eggs. Then, pour in some hot water and toss in 1-2 tablespoons of distilled white vinegar for each colour. Then add in a tablespoon of vegetable oil into each and stir well.
Dye Those Eggs
Pop a hardboiled egg or two into each bowl and let them sit for a bit. Be sure to give the Kool-Aid mixture a stir or whisk each time you want to dye another egg – it helps to keep the oil mixed in and prevent spots from showing. Dark colours such as red and blue will dye your eggs pretty quickly, whereas lighter shades such as yellow and pink will take a little longer.
Let Them Dry
Pop them back in the egg carton to allow them to dry and save them from rolling all over the place.
